Question
How much makeup is too much? I mean some of my friends really pile it on, but I don't really. I was thinking maybe I should start wearing some and I'm not sure how much or what color it should be. --bec
Answer
Dear Bec,
My favorite make-up rule is to always let your natural beauty shine through. God's made your face unlike anyone else's so don't cover it up!
Your young skin probably doesn't need foundation/base. It only clogs your pores and may lead to blemishes. A dab of concealer in a color that matches your skin's natural color will cover the occasional pimple.
Instead of eyeshadow, lightly sweep a light stroke of powder blush across your eyelids. Blend just a touch of blush across the apples of your cheeks, too, for a natural-looking glow. (Also try the tiniest bit across the bridge of your nose.)For a natural look, try a pale rose or peach shade.
Tinted lipgloss will give you a little color & a little shine. And brown to darkbrown mascara works for just about everybody. The most important part of applying makeup is to blend it well so that you can't tell where your natural skin color ends and the makeup begins. Remember, you want people to notice not how great your makeup looks, but how great you look!

Question
I take good care of my face. I wash it with foaming facial cleanser and put cream on it twice a day, yet, I still find small bumps on my face. I know that there not pimples, and there are not many of them, but they still aggravate me. Are they natural, or is there something I can do to get rid of them?--Seguin
Answer
Dear Seguin,
It might depend on your skin type & the type of cream you're using on your face. I can't tell from the letter, but it's more than likely the bumps are clogged pores (the teensy holes in your face from which perspiration exits.) When dirt or oil gets stuck in them, pimples and assorted bumps start showing on your face. If your face is oily and you're applying moisturizing cream, it could be clogging them even more.
Now, the most important thing to remember is that while you aware of these bumps, other people probably don't even notice them when they're looking at you. Instead, they're probably seeing your great eyes or any other of your most striking features!
